Epic Battle training happens regularly going forward. I can only take on 1 person per evening, since these runs are for duos. What we will do is Pelargir, Helms Dike, Defence of Minas Tirith and Hammer of the Underworld.

This will not only give you a ton of points (112 in total if we do all quests), but the mechanics for duo and 3/6-man versions are largely the same, so you can learn the runs this way. It will take time to do it for everyone interested, but it will be a fun journey.

It's supposed to be a laid-back time for you. I can solo all of these for platinum, so you will be mostly observing what is happening and helping with some extra dps. If you don't understand something, we can discuss it after every run.

More info coming as we work it out.

We will need a way to track everyone's progress. This is what this thread is for. Please, add a comment to sign up and note your progress as it's happening. Thank you.

Do you only have time in the evenings? I am available from 8:00 GMT till 22:00 GMT on most days. So could do it at other moments too.

I'd like to join for a few :)
Progress:
Pela: did 6-man 3 times. Understand most of it, but not everything on all strategies. Perhaps we should just discuss this one.
HD: I don't have the expansion (yet)
Defence of MT: did the trio size once. I think I already got a hang of this one.
Hammer: not done yet.

It varies for me. I'm leaving on Friday for a week, but after that I expect to be around a lot, not just in the evenings. I'll say hi in /carefree when I log in so you know when I'm available.

I'll be interested in training for Defence of Minas Tirith and Hammer of the Underworld.

I think I know Pelargir and Helm's Dike fairly well (maybe not all of the side quests) but for those two I would like to get a refresher. Also, I'd really love to do Glittering Caves, I still can't get the grasp of their layout.

My workload is rather heavy at this time though, so I can do things on the event nights only. There's no rush absolutely, any time over the next couple of months would be fine :)

I've never done an Epic Battle before, tried to solo Pelargir once, but got brutally annihilated. So I am very much interested in such training.

Got a few questions though. I do not own Helm's Deep, so only have access to War For Gondor cluster. Would it be beneficial to buy Helm's Deep first, given that Defence Of Rohan is happening earlier in a timeline? Are there any other benefits in starting at Defence Of Rohan rather than War For Gondor?

How does the actual training take place? With communications through Fellowship chat or voice channel on Discord?

There is no practical benefit to doing Helm's Deep first. You will have a harder time accumulating promotion points without it, that's all. War For Gondor is a perfect place to start training, because your trainer (me) can solo them and you can just watch what I'm doing. It's really always the same thing in every run. You learn it once, you're good to go. Obviously, I will also explain in chat when clarification is needed.

Since you've never done BBs, I will also mention that there are 3 parts to success. 1) You need to know what to do. This is what I can show you. 2) You need good damage to defeat bosses. This comes with character level and gear. 3) You need promotion points and rank to use objects and command soldiers. This comes from completing many BB quests. In short, this is a long process and learning the run is the first step.

Thank you for the thorough explanation. I would like to sign up for the training. I am available mostly on evenings though, even during the weekend.

Saturday will work better for me because Thursday is a mid-level night, which is my current level range, and both of those events are scheduled for the same time, but since that spot is already taken I would like to sign up for a Thursday.

Yes, please guys sign up whenever you like. I will usually have time for 3 runs a night so we can work something out that leaves nobody excluded. I'm looking forward to this, just needed a fixed schedule so I don't forget about it. Other nights are also possible.

That's great, thanks! I'll move my character in event calendar from Thursday to Saturday.

Just a quick note to assure you that I know the difficulties in learning these battles. I'm telling you what I'm doing and why, but for someone who's there for the first time, you often don't even know where you are on the wall, how to get off the wall, let alone remembering the order of things. In other words, I don't expect you to remember anything, really. It took me a year before I even mustered the courage to venture into an Epic Battle. They seemed so complicated and unpopular. Then, it took me several months to learn the ropes and start enjoying what I'm doing.

Just keep signing up for scheduled runs when you feel up for it. My secret hope is that over time enough of us will build rank and gain enough familiarity so we can start doing the even more fun 6-mans together as a kin.

I have full intention to continue with my training! Will probably buy Helm's Deep just so I can do that cluster as well. Say, have you thought about recording a tutorial video to complement your written Guide to Epic Battles?

I don't think I would do a very good job recording a tutorial video. Maybe you should record it next time if you want.

That sounds like fun, I'd be in for that. This is mostly me being lazy but since you already help so much, could you produce some sort of checklist what people need to do to qualify? It is pointless?

For this training, you don't need to do anything, just be L10+.

If you mean the kin 6-mans (Pela, Helm's Dike, Hammer), they are pretty involved. So...

Pela = damage matters, meaning player level, ideally L35+ with some L50s
Dike = rank matters, meaning rank 5 engineer and rank 3 officer for everyone
Hammer = both damage and rank, L50 and rank 5, in fact even trinity: tank, healer, dps

Oh and of course you need Helm's Deep for Dike and you need to have done Defence of MT and Hammer duo for Hammer 6-man.
